Gourmet Galley Catering is elated to be named a Caterer of Choice with the Preservation Society of Newport County for 2018 bookings and beyond! It’s an exciting time for our GG family, as we simultaneously celebrate 20 incredible years in business. For those planning an event {of any kind} at one of the Preservation Society’s distinguished properties, the experienced Gourmet Galley team is prepared to turn your Newport Mansion dreams into cherished memories. If you’re new here and just so happen to be in the very beginning stages of your search for the perfect venue, well, you’re in for a treat.

From humble beginnings, operating out of a small commercial kitchen in her family home located in Quaker Hill, CT, our owner, Anna Lathrop, was a young entrepreneur with big ambitions. She has nourished the company into the facility we call home today, designed to service venues and clients across the great State of Connecticut and, now, evermore into Rhode Island! Our address may have changed over the years but one thing holds constant, our mission to serve great food from the freshest ingredients possible. Gourmet Galley is proud to be a Green Business Bureau certified caterer and we provide a fun, boutique experience with a warm, and down-to-earth approach. You can expect sophisticated, yet approachable offerings from our kitchen that your guests will rave about for years to come.

    {Venue Spotlight} Stonecroft Country Inn

    Tucked away, just outside of Mystic country in the quaint town of Ledyard, CT is a bed and breakfast known as the Stonecroft Country Inn. A cheerful, buttery-yellow home dating back to the 1800’s and surrounded by 6.5 acres of expansive lawns, thoughtful gardens, historic stone walls and patios. Between the original 1807 house and the more modern post and beam barn, Stonecroft offers 10 unique rooms to call home for a night, or more. No matter your preference for charm or luxury, there is something to suit all.

    To our delight, private and corporate events are welcomed throughout the year. How wonderful to treat your guests to the convenience of an all-inclusive experience! With options for both an intimate indoor celebration, or an outdoor tented soiree for up to 150 of your closest friends and family, we are excited to partner with this wonderful venue here in Southeast CT.

    Imbibe: Frosty Vixen

    The christmas lights are up, the garland is hung and the GG team is ready to bring the cheer! We thought to ourselves, what can we share with our GG family that will bring a sparkle to their eye this season? A sparkling cocktail of course! What’s a holiday party without a fabulous cocktail after all? We realize, it has to be both beautiful and delicious to wow your guests, but also simple and inexpensive for the host to make. Look no further, we have you covered! Oh, and guess what, you can prep the mixer and garnish days ahead! Who do you love?!

    Meet the Frosty Vixen! A bubbly, bitey, subtly sweet citrus concoction we dreamed up…

    You can make this with either a dry sparkling wine or Prosecco.

    Mandarin Syrup: make ahead
    8 Mandarin oranges, peeled and seeded
    1 large bulb of ginger, peeled
    2 cups of cane sugar

    Puree Mandarins with ginger in a blender until fine. Strain juice through a coffee filter overnight. Bring strained juice to a boil with sugar over medium heat in a non-reactive sauce pan. Let cool and set aside or refrigerate.

    Garnish: make ahead
    Cranberries
    Crystallized Ginger
    Kumquats
    Sugar
    Skewers of choice

    Punch circles out of crystalized ginger, or don’t! How chic do you want to be? It’s up to you! Use a pastry brush to lightly coat each kumquat with your mandarin syrup, dip in sugar and let dry on wax paper or parchment. Place a sugared kumquat, piece of ginger, and cranberry on each skewer and set aside on the wax paper or parchment.

    To make your cocktail, fill a champagne flute with your bubbly of choice and add a teaspoon of mandarin syrup, top with garnish and serve.

    Found yourself with some leftover syrup? Try it over ice cream, or french toast casserole (OMG!), or heck by the spoon!
